Community Meeting Summary and Follow-up

Hello to everyone in our youth soccer community - so much is coming together!

We had a great turnout from across the Wenatchee Valley at the informational meeting we held on May 10th after announcing that Mike Osborn was joining our coaching staff as a Program Director alongside our Director of Coaching, Neil Oyston.

We discussed how Wenatchee FC Youth and OPS are consolidating under the Wenatchee FC Youth name to create one team of people working together to expand quality opportunities for all players wanting to pursue select and premier soccer. This aims to take youth soccer participation, coaching, player development, and competitiveness to new levels in the Valley, while at the same time, our Scholarship Program works to give all players the opportunity to participate. Together, we will be able to dramatically bolster support for our community's passion for youth soccer. It's truly an exciting time!

Here's a summary for those who couldn't attend:

  • Wenatchee FC Youth and OPS are combining as Wenatchee FC Youth.
  • Player development and support for coaches will significantly expand.
  • Players will benefit from being part of a "Program".
  • Age group gaps will be minimized and some age groups will have multiple teams.
  • Fewer age group gaps and multiple teams at an age group create more player development and playing opportunities.
  • Directors and Coaches will be able to collaborate and have more choices when supporting player interests.
  • Tryouts will determine player selection and teams.
  • Some existing teams may look different depending on player volume at tryouts and the degree of team overlap.
  • Our Scholarship Program will work to enable all players to have the opportunity to participate.
  • Scholarships require a letter from the schools verifying financial eligibility (see Scholarship Program link), so please start working on getting those letters now if planning to apply.
  • The entire club will purchase new Adidas uniforms this year.
  • Wenatchee FC Youth Coupon Cards are continuing.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during this transition to the future!
